6 Great Reasons To Start A YouTube Channel!

25.03.2017
There's many many great reasons for people to start a YouTube channel, if you're wondering if YOU should start a YouTube channel I list 6 fantastic reasons for it. I also did 5 BAD Reasons to Start a YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8w... The good reasons for starting a YouTube channel I've got today are this: 1. You have a passion about a subject that you want to share. 2. You want to entertain others. 3. You've found a niche nobody else is doing. 4. You're an aspiring musician or actor. 5. You want to share your story/life. 6. You want to inspire others. See how un-self serving the majority of these reasons are? It's all about helping others and yourself to become better, the only one that is self serving is aspiring actor or musician but that's because those fields are so difficult to get into and YouTube can be the answer for them to help them stand out and get recognised. ⚠ 5 BAD Reasons For Starting A YouTube Channel ⚠

15.03.2017
So there are many many good reasons to starting a YouTube channel, but at the same time there are many bad reasons for starting one as well. Here's just 5 of which I think are the worst ones, what do you think is a BAD reason for starting a Youtube channel? Mine are: 1. To Be Famous Starting a channel just to be famous is a really bad reason because unless you're the most charismatic person ever you won't be growing all the time or as fast as you might think you should. Also, most of the people who are famous on YouTube didn't seek it out, it just found them and it happened because people knew they weren't doing it just to be famous or recognised. If people know you just want to be famous they'll quickly turn off. 2. Because You Think It's Easy Money There are far easier ways to make money online, trust me. Adsense revenue is pathetic. 3. Just Because You Want One. Not having a real reason for having a channel or a core goal means when the dark days of stagnation in your channel means you'll be more likely to quit. 4. You're Not Passionate About It. People recognise fakes and if you're not truly passionate about what you're saying or doing they'll know, trust me, people pick up on my modd changes from vlog to vlog. 5. You Want To Be The Next (Insert Name Here). Being inspired by the big guys is great, but trying to emulate them or become them isn't, for one you'll always be in their shadow. Another reason is you'll always be 2nd best and why should someone come and watch you when they have the original already there and on their subscription list? How are you different? So there's my 5, let me know yours below. 🙂 Just think, I don't even charge you for this viewing pleasure. Aren't you lucky. Another 5 Mistakes New Motovloggers Make

04.03.2017
So a while back I did a video Top 5 mistakes new Motovloggers make, and this is a follow up to that, another 5 mistakes new motovloggers make. Some of these are basics that if you want your channel to grow then if you're doing them you might want to address them. 1. Copying Other Motovloggers. Don't do it. 2. Expecting To Grow Fast. It doesn't happen overnight. 3. Not Making The Most Of YouTube. They give you the tools dammit, use them. 4. Not Uploading Enough. Quantity is key but it also needs to be quality. 5. Not Getting Involved In The Community. Not watching other people's videos, sharing them, commenting on them and generally just being a self-centred asshat. Video Editing Tips & Tricks - 5 Tips To Be Faster At Editing

11.02.2017
Do you want to be faster at editing? I know I've halved the time it takes me to edit a vlog for YouTube by doing all these things, why would we want to be faster at editing well for one it helps us put out more videos, it can also mean we have more time to relax away from YouTube and this weird thing we do, editing is the least fun part of the process so learning how to speed up the whole editing process can save you from getting stressed out and save you time. 1. Learn The Keyboard Shortcuts. Now you don't have to learn ALL of the keyboard shortcuts but by learning the most used shortcuts then we can save ourselves seconds every time, and as you know seconds build into minutes which decreases the total time spent editing your videos. Real simple to do just Google keyboard shortcuts for (insert editing program name here). 2. Record Vlogs More Succinctly. By this I mean try and get into the habit of recording your vlog all in one go rather than spreading it out over the course of a ride, this saves us time later on because we'll have less work to do, scouring our footage for bits of clips that we can chuck in and try to get our vlogs to flow. By delivering our vlogs more concisely and altogether this can save us even more time. 3. Use Less Effects and B-Roll. Adding effects, memes, B-Roll and other clips can take time, time to search for, find, organise and put in. Especially if you want to add short clips from old films (a common tactic by motovloggers) or if you want to do effects like the Triggered meme. They all take time to do and by cutting back on them it means we can save minutes which all add up, also we save rendering time, when your computer has less to do, the rendering process can be so much quicker. 4. Use Lower Resolution and FPS Files. Using a lower resolution and lower fps files means that the computer has less data to process, unless you're doing slow motion 60fps+ isn't really needed. Many many vloggers get by with 30fps 1080p and some 720p, 4k isn't needed as much, it will be in the future but some of the best YouTubers get by with 1080p. 5. Export With A Lower Bitrate. I see people commenting on bitrate settings and in my opinion, having a massively high bitrate setting is pointless, for one it increases the rendering time and final file size to no end, and for not much gain. 2. You have to then upload this massive file to YouTube. Then 3, YouTube has to process all that data which increases the processing time for not much gain. 20Mbps is plenty for YouTube it really is. But that's for another vlog. Just think, I don't even charge you for this viewing pleasure. Aren't you lucky. 5 Ways To Increase Your YouTube Channel Watch Time - #YouTubeTips

06.02.2017
So carrying on from my last post about Increasing Audience Retention, this is 5 ways for you to increase your Watch Time, kind of along the same lines but Audience Retention and Watch Time can be treated separately, or more to the point, you can increase your Audience Retention which will increase your Watch Time but increasing your Watch Time won't increase your Audience Retention. So onto the five ways to increase your Watch Time: 1. Make and publish more videos - 1:16 This sounds too easy right but people wonder why they're not getting the views or watch time and basically the more you put out, the more people watch, the more exposure your videos and channels get and the quicker you grow. I know people can't devote the time to making loads of videos, nor can I, but upping your published videos from one per week to two or even three will have a drastic effect on your Watch Time. 2. Increase your Audience Retention - 3:04 Not easy to do but can be done in a myriad of different ways, I go on about How To Increase Your Audience Retention in this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrr... 3. Make More Videos That Have A Longer Shelf Life - 4:04 This means making videos that will not only be viewed now, but months and even years later. Reviews and how to's etc, something that will be searched for by people on YouTube on a consistent basis, I go on about this in the videos here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEp... 4. Increase Your Presence On Social Media - 5:44 Stick to the big three unless you've got the time and resources to devote to the others, but increasing your reach on the other social media sites like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook means that every new follower is a potential new view, a potential subscriber, so by cultivating a following on those sites means your videos have a greater reach thus the greater potential for an increase in Watch Time. 5. Make Longer Videos - 7:35 This is a big one, if you can make longer videos that keep people hooked and watching for longer then your Watch Time will just explode, people have a common misconception that you must do only 5 min videos or shorter ones because people's attention span is very short on YouTube and it's just not the case, people like to blame it on others' attention span rather than themselves and how they keep people watching. If you increase your Audience Retention and keep people watching for longer you'll not only get an increase on Watch Time but a follower that's invested in you. And those are my 5 ways to increase your Watch Time on YouTube. Music by: Dyalla Swain - https://soundcloud.com/dyallas Just think, I don't even charge you for this viewing pleasure. 5 Ways To Increase Your Audience Retention #YouTubeTips

30.01.2017
Audience Retention is one of the biggest things that drives your YouTube Watch Time up and it means how long people are watching your videos for, either individual videos or as a whole on average on your channel. So here's 5 ways to increase your Audience Retention and boost your Watch Time. Why would we want to increase Audience Retention? Well if we keep people watching for longer then that increase our Watch Time, increases the chances of people subscribing and becoming part of your YouTube channels' community. This would then increase our Adsense revenue as well because the deeper a connection you make with a viewer the more likely they are to watch more of your videos. So the first way is to talk about topics that people want to listen to opinions about, sounds simple but as vloggers we tend to talk about things WE want to talk about, not what people are actually WANTING to listen to. The 2nd way to increase your Audience Retention is to use what is known as jump cuts, jump cuts are basically (in film or television) an abrupt transition from one scene to another. These snap peoples attention back to the video, you see keeping the view the same people get "bored" so snapping to a scene later on can jolt people back into watching. B-Roll is tied into Jump Cuts and B-roll or Broll is (In film and television production), supplemental or alternative footage intercut with the main shot. This change of what's onscreen especially if it's of something interesting or different from the current scene is another way to grab people's attention and keep them watching for longer. Multiple cameras help you achieve Jump Cuts and B-roll, by changing what's on screen at least every 5-10 seconds is another trick to keep people watching for longer, as the view is constantly changing people won't fall into the "rut" when watching. Lastly putting up images or text on screen forces the viewer to read the text and see the image and thus grabs their attention, keeps them in the video and snaps them back from drifting off. Last points, it's all about changing what's on screen, keep it moving and changing and people's attention will be kept. Imagine a presentation, how many times have you almost nodded off while someone is babbling on up front? If they kept it changing and fresh you'd be more attentive and like it more. Top 5 Ways To Quickly Grow A Small YouTube Channel

14.12.2016
People often wonder if there are any REALLY quick ways to grow on YouTube, there are. It's just they might not be overnight, however if you do these 5 things then you're sure to grow your YouTube channel quicker. 1. Learn YouTube SEO YouTube is a video search engine, owned by the biggest search engine in the world Google, so learning how to optimise your videos Titles, description and tags can mean the difference between getting views and not getting views.. 2. Create Shareable Content You can do this in a few ways, the first is to go to http://www.google.com/trends, see whats trending and make a video, then by using your new found knowledge on SEO you can appear in the search results for that topic. A second way for motovloggers this can be near misses, crash videos, bad driving or bad drivers, things you see on the road that isn't commonplace really. A third way you can also talk about things happening on YouTube, this site is an organic thing and there is always something going on in the ecosphere that is sure to get views, such as Marina Joyce, YouTube Demonetization etc... the big topics. You've gotta be quick with them though. 3. Dominate The Up Next/Related Videos Feed This one I've done a blog post on: http://www.sixmiffedy.co.uk/how-to-... It's about being consistent with your tags and description across all your videos, plus it's about what you can get people watching i.e. if you get someone to go to video b when watching video a then YouTube see's this connection and it's something that is interesting to the audience to then video b will be promoted more on video a. Tags are still important and having a set of constant tags across your videos helps it appear more relevant to YouTube, find out more about Tags here: http://www.sixmiffedy.co.uk/do-vide... 4. Talk About People On YouTube. Now this doesn't have to be drama, you can just talk about a YouTuber and something that's gone on such as Casey Neistat quitting his daily vlog. A common tactic to get noticed for this is to put the big YouTubers name in your title because then the big YouTuber might notice and watch or you appear in the search results when someone is searching for the YouTuber. 5. Do Response Videos Although YouTube disabled the function of response videos as they were open to abuse you can still do them, find a topic that people are talking about, create your video and piggyback on the exposure of those videos. If you're responding to a creator with a video you can let them know, just shoot them a message and they might go and watch it and if they like it they could do a response to you, then you get their audience coming over. And there's my Top 5 ways to grow a smaller channel. Just think, I don't even charge you for this viewing pleasure. Aren't you lucky. Top 5 Reasons People Quit YouTube And How To Avoid Them

07.12.2016
I hate it when people quit their channel but unfortunately people do quit YouTube and it happens quite a lot, now it can be for many reasons but here's the top 5 reasons why people quit being a YouTuber... 1. Bullying This unfortunately does happen quite a lot, and what's worse is that other rival YouTubers or not even rival YouTubers but cyberbully YouTubers can make a video on you or your videos and channel and then their fans see it and an army of hate and trolls can come over and overwhelm you, especially if you're a smaller Youtuber. Some rival ones will even make videos solely for the purpose of sending hate your way to try and kill off your channel. How To Avoid It: Don't get involved in YouTube drama as it's a toxic place to be in, if someone does send hate your way then rise above it, don't respond, their fans will get bored if you don't respond and just keep doing your own thing. If you see a ton of dislikes on your videos and it's getting you down because of it just think, Youtube treats dislikes the same as likes and it won't have a negative impact on your video or your channel, it actually helps you. Plus the more comments the haters leave, the more it helps you as well. 2. Boredom If you keep doing the same type of videos no matter how many times you upload, if you keep doing the same ones, i.e. the same vlogs or the same game if you're a gamer, eventually you'll get bored of it. How To Avoid It: Diversify your content, it helps your channel get more exposure in different areas, get playing different games, make different types of videos for your community, reviews, how to's, walkthroughs, explanations etc, make the videos different and it'll help keep you interested and keep your audience interested as they'll be used to not knowing what they're getting from you. Spread your net wide grasshopper. 3. Burnout It happens mainly to daily vloggers but it can happen even if you're just uploading 2/3 videos a week for YouTube. Doing too much means eventually you'll run out of energy, ideas, life and passion for making videos. How To Avoid It: Take a step back from doing YouTube, cut it down by a video or two a week and really get your energy back, get your passion back for making videos and really rejuvenate. You could in this time of cutting back find out new ways on how you can streamline your video making process, maybe there are different ways you can record or edit quicker and make it so that doing YouTube takes less time and energy out of your day. 4. Life Changes This is just a hobby for most of us and life does go on, it does for big YouTubers as well but the vast majority of YouTubers are doing it part time or as a little hobby, and life takes priority. It's something you can't aovid, something big might happen ion life, moving house, having a baby, a death in the family or a close friend can really devastate someone. How To Avoid It: Just like burnout, take a step back, tell people what's happening if you want or just say you're taking time off from YouTube, deal with real life first and then come back to it. Your life is the priority, sort it out and get your health, wealth and wellbeing sorted first. 5. Lack Of Growth It happens to every YouTuber out there, big and small alike, just because someone has 100,000 subscribers doesn't mean they're growing, there are ups and downs to a YouTube channel, it affects smaller channels more and that's the biggest reason why people quit. How To Avoid It: Realise the simple fact that YouTube is a long game. Dips and rise happen all the time, if you see a dip, don't worry, just keep uploading. If you see a constant stagnation of your channel or a constant dip then you DO need to change something up as something isn't connecting with your audience. ————————————————— Music by Joakim Karud http://soundcloud.com/joakimkarud ————————————————— Just think, I don't even charge you for this viewing pleasure. 5 Things I HATE about YouTube

03.10.2016
Time to get back to my roots and be a real salty bastard. YouTube can be a fantastic place but there are some things I can't stand about it so, here are 5 Things I Hate About YouTube. Let me know below in the comments what drives you nuts about this website! 1. Clickbait. oh how we hate to love it or love to hate it, clickbait is now the norm, fuck getting people in with genuine thumbnails and titles, just clickbait everyone. It's now an accepted practice and the viewers expect it as well. 2. YouTube Comments. It happens on the big channels, the comments section of their videos is filled with spam, meme spam, old jokes, people trying to be funny and a slew of other shit. I can't stand it. 3. YouTube Drama. Fuck good content, just go call out another vlogger or a load of vloggers and hey presto, instant fame. 4. YouTubes lack of support. YouTube distances itself from its creators and you'll find it hard to talk to a real person. 5. Fake Pranks. I don't mind prank channels if they're genuine as that's entertainment, but fake ones are just terrible, unoriginal and boring. ————————————————— Music by Joakim Karud http://soundcloud.com/joakimkarud ————————————————— Just think, I don't even charge you for this viewing pleasure. Top 5 Mistakes New Motovloggers Make (And How To Fix Them)

21.09.2016
I've made a list of the top 5 mistakes new motovloggers make when they're first starting out. Everything here is something I've done as well and is by no means the only things that we do that could be better. My Top 5 Mistakes Motovloggers Make Is 1. Bad Camera Angle, make sure your picture is framed correctly. 2. Bad Audio, excessive wind noise, crackling audio and too loud. 3. Lots Of Umm's Ahh's and Long Pauses, makes you sound either unconfident in your words or dishonest. 4. Ramble. makes videos longer than they'll need to be and people won't watch them, go off on a ramble with no point and people will switch off. Attention spans on YouTube these days are terrible. Make a combination of long and short videos to get the best Audience Retention you can. 5. Intros Too Long. A contentious one but the experts of YouTube say that you have about 15 seconds to hook a viewer into why they should watch your video. Intros that last over 10s have a greater chance of the viewer turning off or skipping the video. Easy fixes that will make your videos look and sound better and be more viewable by your potential subscribers. ————————————————— Music by Joakim Karud http://soundcloud.com/joakimkarud ————————————————— Just think, I don't even charge you for this viewing pleasure. Top 5 Ways YouTubers Make Money - Top 5's And 10's

03.09.2016
This is the top 5 ways that YouTubers make money, anyone can do it and it's good to start something up the smaller you are as you can try, test and refine. 1. YouTube Adsense/Advertising. This is the easiest one to implement, leave it running in the background and forget about it. You won't see sizeable return until you're massive yourself though. 2. Merchandising. This can be accomplished by anyone regardless of channel size, get a good t-shirt campaign or hoodie campaign going and it can give you a small profit, with teespring being the main one that's allowed as an associated website. 3. Affiliation Marketing. An easy one that anyone can setup, just go to a website like Sportsbikeshop, Revzilla or Amazon, sign up to the affiliate program, and add the links to get a little passive income, the links at the bottom of "My Gear" is an example of this, you can also use them if you do reviews of gear like I'm doing. 4. Sponsored Videos. Something you can do when you get bigger is get Sponsorship deals, either from brands or by using a website like Famebit.com, where you as a creator find a product you think might benefit your community, send a proposal to the product owner/maker for what type of video you'd like to do, if they accept, you make the video, and they pay you for the exposure. 5. Patreon. Now I love the idea of Patreon, it's a lot of people donating a little amount of money direct to their favourite YouTubers. This can be a nice passive income and lets you create a greater community for your channel, some bigger YouTubers make quite a sizeable wage from this, but as a smaller YouTuber it can be a great little boost and way more than you'll see from Adsense. And that's the Top 5 ways Youtubers make money, if you have any questions please leave them in the comments below. ————————————————— Music by Joakim Karud http://soundcloud.com/joakimkarud ————————————————— Just think, I don't even charge you for this viewing pleasure.
